Graduating Family Checklist

Prepare for Graduation Day

Planning:

  • Confirm with your student the number of tickets needed for your family.
  • Book flights and lodging early due to high demand.
  • Plan for pre- and post-commencement meals.
  • Consider potential photo locations before or after the event.

Parking:

  • Review driving directions and a parking map available online.
  • Allow ample time for parking.
  • Please note, attendees with accessibility needs may park or drop off in the Neville Arena parking lot (first-come, first-served).

Ceremony:

  • Arrive to the venue no more than 90 minutes early.
  • Take note of the clear bag policy ffor Neville Arena.

Helpful Notes:

  • Concessions are available for purchase.
  • All seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The duration of each ceremony is dependent on the number of graduates who participate.

Discuss Job Search Strategy:

  • Encourage your student to connect with career services to update their resume and prepare for interviews.
  • Support your student attending career fairs and networking events on campus.
  • Explore job locations and relocation considerations with your student.

Review Graduate School Options:

  • Urge your student to research graduate programs and requirements.
  • Advise them to submit applications to multiple programs to compare funding and program standards.
  • Talk with your student about family contributions to their continued education.

Confirm Housing and Living Arrangements:

  • Review lease end dates and move-out timeline.
  • Discuss housing plans for after graduation.
