SEMESTERLY CERTIFICATION REQUEST
Semesterly Certification Request
All students using a Federal VA Education benefit are required to submit a certification request each semester. This notifies the VRC of your intent to use benefits. If the request is not submitted, the VRC will not certify your enrollment to the VA nor place penny memos on accounts for CH33 Students. Please click on the "Certification Request" in VAWorks and fill out the information entirely once you have registered for classes. If you are pursuing a dual major, make sure to state each major on the form.
Understanding Summer Certification
For VA education benefits, being “full‑time” in the summer does NOT simply mean taking 12 credits total. Because summer is split into multiple parts of term (mini‑terms) with different lengths, the VA calculates your enrollment separately for each session based on how many credits count as full‑time for that specific session. Your training time (full‑time, ¾‑time, ½‑time, etc.) can change multiple times during the summer as sessions begin and end.
- Full semester: 8 credit hours
- Mini-mester I / II: 4 credit hours
If registered for multiple parts of term, for Summer semester, the student would need to be continuously enrolled in 8 credit hours to receive the maximum amount of their housing stipend.
Please reach out to your SCO for further clarification on your schedule!
Certification Cycle
Students must submit their request by the priority deadline are guaranteed to have their schedule certified by the first day of classes, as long as their are no issues with their paperwork. Those who do not complete their certification request by the first day of certifying will be certified after those who met the priority deadline are completed. In the initial wave of certification, the SCOs will submit enrollment hours to the VA and $0 in tuition and fees. After the fifteenth class day, the SCOs will amend schedules for class changes and to bill for CH33 students.
