Auburn Highlights

My dad is a first-generation college graduate who graduated from Auburn in 1969. His time at Auburn changed his life. Throughout my life, any visit to Auburn started on the lawn of Samford Hall and included a visit to Toomer's Drugs for lemonade.

Now that my son is a student at Auburn, I love to come to town and stay at The Hotel at Auburn University. The unique smell that greets me when I walk in lets me know I am home in Auburn. I discovered that Auburn Candle Company sells a candle of that scent, and it is a favorite of mine to have at home in Arizona.

I also love being able to walk to Hey Day Market, Hamilton's, or Acre for a meal or a drink or meet up with my son with bagels from Big Blue Bagel and Deli. Of course, no trip to Auburn is complete without shopping at Both J&M Bookstore and the Auburn Bookstore.

Tips

No matter their living situation (on- or off-campus), it is a nice idea to have the contact information of your student's roomate(s) or friend(s) as well as a fellow parent's. Sometimes, when our students get sick they don't know how to ask for help. A text asking for help grabbing Gatorade or other basic needs is easy to send. It is also just nice to have in case of emergency.
