Our family cannot visit Auburn without eating Taco Mama or Big Blue Bagel – those are Auburn staples for our crew. There are SO many great restaurants in Auburn that you cannot go wrong with any of the local establishments.

Tips

As an out-of-state parent, the one thing I would share with anyone is to always have a date when you will see each other again. Even if it is far in the future, we have found that good-byes are much easier when you can say "See you on the second weekend of October..." vs. not having anything secured or lined up.

I strongly encouraged our daughters to utilize professor's office hours to meet in person. It helps make the course more relational instead of transactional. My oldest daughter did this early in her studies, then randomly bumped into her professor and his family at a local restaurant where he kindly paid for her dinner. We never had to ask her to do it again.

Be prepared to always be thinking a year in advance – housing, roomates, PT jobs, etc. It will catch you off-guard, but some key decisions will be required far in advance. If you know it now, there will be less shock factor when the situation presents itself.
