Tips

The summer before moving to college is busy, but I suggest you encourage your student to take the time over the summer to log into their college portal and review how to be active on campus.

The available opportunities are endless. Some areas they can search for are their area of study, clubs, sports, and social. If they go into their first semester with an idea of the options they have, it may make their first year experience much more enjoyable and involved.

Just as important is understanding the academic resources available to them. Look for study help and tutoring, understand those services, and learn how to use them. Again, if the students know the resources available to them, they are more likely to use them!
