Process for Construction, Repairs, or Renovations

Fraternity House on Auburn University Property

All work at fraternity houses should be led by an officer of the fraternity house corporation, as they are the legal authority who has leased the property from Auburn University.

Contact a Licensed and Insured Contractor

Repairs and renovations conducted on Auburn University property must be conducted by licensed and insured contractors who are permitted to work in the City of the Auburn. This person will evaluate the project and provide an estimate for the work. Once you have settled on a project and a contractor, you will need the following information to request approval from Auburn University:

  • Name of the company / contractor completing the work
  • Documentation the company is licensed and insured to work in Auburn, AL
  • Design documents including the specifications for work to be completed
  • Funding for the project

Submit Your Request for the Project to Greek Life

Most renovations require you to contact Greek Life for approval before you begin the work. There are a few projects that do not require contacting Greek Life (see list below). Once notified, Greek Life will:

  • Review the project to see if the City of Auburn and/or Auburn University Facilities Management needs to be notified.
  • If needed, submit the Auburn University Facilities Management work order.
  • Provide a letter of support for the project.
Projects that do not Require Approval:
  • Interior painting
  • Interior flooring replacement
  • Interior carpentry (replacing doors, baseboards, etc.)
  • HVAC repairs
  • Plumbing repairs

All other projects require you to contact Greek Life before you proceed on the project.

Receive Approval from Auburn University Facilities Management (if needed)

All exterior projects require approval from Auburn University Facilities Management to ensure that the university standards are maintained. After Greek Life submits the work order for your project, Auburn University Facilities Management will:

  • Review drawings
  • Request revisions, if needed
  • Provide approval to authorize the work
  • Receive approval from Auburn University Facilities Management (if needed)

Any interior project will not require this step.
