Auburn Greek Life Hazing Prevention Programming

Members of the Greek Community are educated about hazing and hazing prevention throughout their entire membership experience. Auburn Greek Life hosts specific training for chapter presidents and new member educators as they prepare to bring new members to their organization. This training includes an in-person training session and an online learning module. The learning module includes specific reporting and policy reviews of Auburn University and the state of Alabama. The online module also includes broad research-backed and evidence-based hazing prevention tools created for college students' educational purposes.
National Hazing Prevention Week
National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) is an opportunity for communities across the nation to raise awareness and advocate against hazing. National Hazing Prevention Week is observed every year in the last week of September. The Greek Programming Board is responsible for hosting events and initiatives throughout the week to make chapter members and other students more aware of the implications of hazing and educate them on how they can be active contributors to the prevention of hazing. The “Tigers Don’t Haze” initiative is Greek Life’s signature tagline for the programs and events hosted during NHPW.
Report Hazing
Everyone—even you—has a responsibility to play a role in preventing and ending hazing. Alabama is one of six states that has a “Duty to Report” clause in its anti-hazing statute. To be aware of hazing and failing to report it is illegal in Alabama.
You can report hazing allegations confidentially and anonymously by using Auburn’s Ethics Line portal. File a hazing report here.
Medical Assistance Policy
The Medical Assistance Policy empowers students and student organizations to seek medical assistance for individuals who may be experiencing health-related complications from any potentially serious or life-threatening situation, including those involving the use of alcohol, drugs or other substances. This policy aims to reduce barriers to seeking help, and to encourage students and student organizations to make responsible decisions when faced with a serious emergency. Stop Campus Hazing Act
The Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), signed into law in December 2024, introduces new requirements for hazing prevention, response policies, and disclosures, amending the Jeanne Cleary Campus Safety Act. This legislation mandates the inclusion of hazing statistics and reports in the Annual Security Report, the implementation of hazing prevention programming for all students, and updates to the hazing policy. Auburn Greek Life and Auburn University is committed to the compliance of this act.
