In-Processing Checklist for New Hires

Central HR Orientation

  • If you are attending in person, orientation is located at 1550 East Glenn Avenue. A parking permit is not required.
  • If instructed by your supervisor to attend orientation remotely (via Zoom), Human Resources will provide you with additional information the week of your scheduled session.
  • You must bring the following information to New Employee Orientation to complete your benefits enrollment:
    • Blue Cross Blue Shield health and/or dental insurance: Name, date of birth, and Social Security number of each covered dependent. A copy of your marriage certificate and one other document if covering a spouse as well as a copy of the birth certificate or adoption papers for each child covered. Review the Dependent Eligibility Requirements for a full definition of an insurance dependent.
    • Group Life Insurance: Name and address of your beneficiary designations.
    • Retirement Systems of Alabama: Name, date of birth, and address of your beneficiary designations.

New Employee SA Orientation

The Celebrations Working Committee aims to make all new Student Affairs staff members feel welcomed and informed. The committee hosts Student Affairs orientations for all new full-time employees. The orientations include Student Affairs overview information such as: messages from our senior leadership, an overview from Student Affairs Human Resources, ways to get involved within the division and elsewhere at AU and tours of campus buildings that house student affairs departments. This program takes place twice a year.
