Auburn University Dream Makers, one of Auburn’s three student-run service organizations, supports neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and pediatric units across east Alabama through year-round fundraising and service initiatives.
“AUDM is a great way to get involved, meet people and make a difference from your first day on campus,” said Lois Ann Wester, a rising senior and AUDM director of morale.
AUDM’s work is yearlong, making it an accessible organization for first-year students seeking early involvement opportunities. The organization’s signature event, Main Event, serves as the culmination of its annual fundraising efforts. The 12-hour celebration features games, challenges, dances, Dream Family testimonials and special performances.
Students can get involved through one of AUDM’s five teams, each of which plays a unique role in supporting the organization’s mission.
The Campus Relations team focuses on outreach and participant engagement. Members connect with student organizations across campus, recruit new participants and help foster the welcoming, community-centered culture that defines AUDM.
Internal participant engagement from the campus relations team is headlined by the Morale committee, which maintains and encourages the positive spirit that AUDM is known for. The Morale Committee also leads the line dance performed during Main Event.
“I joined Morale freshman year and quickly found a community that made Auburn feel like home,” Wester said.
After three years of involvement, Wester now serves as director of morale and is passionate about creating that same experience for other students.
“I pursued a leadership role because I wanted to help create that same experience for others while supporting a cause that means so much to me,” she said.
The Event Operations team plans and executes AUDM’s signature programs, including Main Event and other activities held throughout the year. Members coordinate logistics, schedules, vendors and special events that bring participants and Dream Families together.
The Communications and Marketing team manages Dream Family engagement, publicity and storytelling efforts. Through photography, videography, graphic design, merchandise and social media content, the team helps share AUDM’s impact with the Auburn community.
The Advancement team oversees fundraising initiatives for AUDM members and Mini Dream Makers programs in local schools, helping expand the organization’s reach and support for pediatric patients and their families.
The Administration team manages hospital, alumni and sponsor relationships. Members coordinate volunteer opportunities, strengthen community partnerships and oversee sponsorship and silent auction efforts that help fund AUDM’s mission.
“The people and experiences I’ve gained through AUDM have made my Auburn experience so much more meaningful,” Wester said.
Students seeking a service-oriented organization focused on community, philanthropy and meaningful connections can find a home in Auburn University Dream Makers.
