Auburn Fraternity Leader Earns National Recognition

Hutch Sprayberry recognized for leadership and contributions to the fraternity community.

Auburn University rising senior Hutch Sprayberry has been recognized by the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) as a recipient of the 2026 Undergraduate Award of Distinction--one of the organization’s highest individual honors.

The NIC Awards of Distinction recognize fraternity men who demonstrate leadership, service, and a commitment to improving their communities. Recipients are selected based on the meaningful impact they make within their chapters, campuses, and the broader fraternity experience.

During his time at Auburn, Hutch has served in key leadership roles, including Interfraternity Council (IFC) Vice President of Administration and Chapter President of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI). In these roles, he has represented both his chapter and the Auburn fraternity community at the campus and national levels.

As a member of the University’s Stop Campus Hazing Task Force, Hutch advocated for the continued use of IFC’s judicial self-governance model, representing student perspectives in conversations that impact the fraternity experience.

In addition to his leadership involvement, Hutch maintains a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a degree in Finance and Accounting.

His selection for the Undergraduate Award of Distinction reflects a strong commitment to purpose-driven leadership and service to others, values that closely align with Auburn’s core commitment to excellence.

“I am incredibly honored to receive this award, but it’s really a reflection of the people who have invested in me throughout my time at Auburn,” shared Hutch. “Serving as President of Phi Gamma Delta has been one of the greatest privileges of my college experience because I’ve seen firsthand how our chapter challenges one another to grow as leaders and become better men. My hope is that FIJI continues to have that same impact for generations to come, and I look forward to working alongside my brothers for the betterment of Auburn.”

“Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of watching Hutch lead with humility, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether representing the fraternity community on the IFC Executive Board, leading Phi Gamma Delta as chapter president, or advocating for students in important campus conversations, he has consistently demonstrated the kind of character and leadership that elevates those around him”, said Lindsay Holdren, Director of Greek Life. “This national recognition is a testament to the impact Hutch has made at Auburn, and I am excited to see the positive influence he will continue to have long after graduation.”

Hutch’s recognition highlights the impact of student leaders within Auburn’s fraternity community and underscores the continued dedication of Auburn students to leadership, accountability, and excellence.
