Summer Recruitment
Summer recruitment is the primary period in which students join IFC fraternities. Chapters host events throughout the summer to meet potential new members. Events held by chapters are generally held in and around the Auburn area and are typically very casual. All chapters recruit during this period of time.
Fall Recruitment
At the beginning of the fall semester, the IFC will host recruitment events such as IFC Rec Day, Open House, and Kickoff to provide a space where potential new members can meet all of the fraternities in one space. While some chapters may close their recruitment efforts by the time the Fall semester begins, many still recruit through early September.
Spring Recruitment
Spring recruitment is very similar to Summer and Fall recruitment, but on a smaller scale. Spring recruitment generally has fewer participating chapters and new members. The chapters that recruit in the spring will host recruitment events publicized through AUinvolve and their social media accounts during the first few weeks of school back in the spring.
Bidding Fee
There is no fee to participate in recruitment. However, students who accept a bid from an IFC fraternity will be charged a $70 bidding fee to their Auburn Student eBill, regardless of the semester they join.
Spring Recruitment
Spring Recruitment is a secondary period in which chapters will extend membership to potential new members. Spring Recruitment is generally more relaxed, with fewer chapters participating.
Like Summer and Fall Recruitment, interested students MUST register fro recruitment through Chapter Builder to participate in Spring Recruitment. If you previously filled out the registration form for a different recruiting period, you must fill it out again each semester you are seeking membership to an IFC fraternity.

When registering, students will create an online Chapter Builder profile where they will submit the following:
- Photo of themselves

- Personal contact information to be invited to recruitment activities
This information is sent to all the chapters, so it must be correct.

Recruitment Weekends
Recruitment weekends are scheduled during peak Camp War Eagle sessions, where most fraternities plan to have at least one recruitment event available that Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. These weekends are a great opportunity to meet more than one fraternity all in one trip.
Recruitment Fairs
Coinciding with select Camp War Eagle sessions and recruitment weekends, this event will provide potential new members with an opportunity to meet recruiting chapters in a tabling-style event.
Chapter Events: May 29, 2026 - August 23, 2026
Summer recruitment events are opportunities for current chapter members to get to know potential new members before fall classes begin. These events are individually planned by each chapter and may include activities like grilling out at the fraternity house, attending an Atlanta Braves game, or playing a round at Top Golf. Fraternities may reach out to you to invite you to their events, but you are encouraged to contact chapters with events you would like to attend. You may contact chapters through their social media pages or their chapter websites.

- August 19 and 20: Formal Recruitment*
- August 23: Bidding Complete
- August 24: First Day of New Member Education
- October 2: Deadline for Big Brother Nights
- October 19: Last Day of New Member Education
*Formal Recruitment is optional for chapters to participate in.
Fall Events: August 15, 2026 - August 23, 2026
Fall recruitment events allow students the opportunity to continue to meet the fraternities after the summer recruitment period. Most events are held at the chapter facilities or within Auburn.
To support continued chapter growth, some groups will engage in continuous open bidding (COB), allowing them to extend membership offers to students even after the official IFC recruitment period has ended.
Chapters participating in Continuous Open Bidding may extend bids through the final day of the New Member Education period. Continuous Open Bidding is typically more informal than traditional recruitment, with a stronger emphasis on communication and individual outreach.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some frequently asked questions about IFC Recruitment.
Students must be full-time enrolled undergraduate students to hold membership within a fraternity. Other requirements, such as GPA minimums, are decided on a chapter-to-chapter basis. Path to the Plains and Auburn First students are not eligible for fraternity membership.
Yes. All men seeking to join an IFC fraternity at Auburn University must register for recruitment through Chapter Builder.
During the summer, many chapters host events to get to know potential new members who will participate in Fall Recruitment. Activities may include cookouts at the home of chapter alumni members, sporting events, going out to eat, lake days, etc. All potential new members and parents should know that ALL recruitment interactions must be alcohol-free per Interfraternity Council policy.
We suggest checking out our IFC organizations on social media. That is a great place to connect with chapter and find more information. You can find chapter social media links on the Interfraternity Council Instagram page.
This process is largely at the discretion of the individual chapters. On June 6, 2025, chapters can extend bids to recruits. A bid is an invitation to join a chapter. You may receive bids from multiple chapters, and you must choose which bid you would like to accept and communicate your decision to that chapter. You can only accept one bid and join one fraternity.
Any student is welcome to join a fraternity at any time. However, joining a fraternity in the fall semester of your freshman year is highly encouraged. The transition to college from high school can be difficult, and getting involved on campus, especially in a fraternity, can help to ease the transition. Also, many students point to their early involvement in a fraternity as a key factor in developing leadership skills and furthering their campus involvement. If you decide to join a fraternity after your freshman year, chapters will accept new members who are sophomores or uppperclassmen. However, the number they will accept is much smaller.
