Auburn Greek Community Unites for Greek Day of Service
Students serve alongside one another in a day dedicated to Auburn’s shared value of service.
On Monday, October 6th, members of Auburn University’s Greek community came together for their first ever Greek Day of Service, dedicating their time and talents to local organizations in need. Organized by the Greek Programming Board, the initiative united students from the Interfraternity Councils (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and Panhellenic Council in service to the wider Auburn community.
The day featured a variety of volunteer opportunities that allowed Greek students to make a direct impact:
- At the CARE Humane Society, students walked dogs, cleaned kennels, and helped care for animals.
- At the Auburn Public Library, volunteers prepped crafts for upcoming children’s programs.
- With Project Uplift, students played games and created crafts with children on the Campus Green.
- At the Auburn Food Pantry, volunteers organized and sorted donations to support local families.
- On campus, students staffed a Letters of Encouragement table, writing uplifting notes to distribute to community members.
Greek Day of Service is rooted in the belief that while each council and chapter has its own traditions, Auburn’s Greek community is united by a shared commitment to service. By working side by side, students were able to strengthen bonds within the Greek community while also giving back to the city they call home.
“One of the goals of the Greek Programming Board is to strengthen relationships across councils, and what better way to do that than by coming together through our shared value of service,” shares Caroline McDuffie, VP of Service and Social Programs on the Greek Programming Board.
“While each of our Greek organizations is individually unique, they all share a core commitment to bettering the communities around them,” said Haley Joyner Pegues, Greek Programs Coordinator. “I hope this event inspires a lasting tradition of giving back to the Auburn community as a united front of brothers and sisters.”
Through these collective efforts, Auburn’s Greek Day of Service once again highlighted the spirit and the strength of collaboration, reinforcing Auburn University’s tradition of building community through meaningful action.
