ROMO Cup to Honor the Legacy of Will “Romo" Romanowski
ROMO Cup to Honor the Legacy of Will “Romo" Romanowski
By Lady Cox
Auburn University's fraternity community is proud to host the inaugural ROMO Cup, a campus-wide fraternity wiffle ball tournament created to celebrate the life and legacy of Will “Romo" Romanowski, a beloved member of Auburn's Sigma Nu fraternity whose spirit of kindness, excellence, and joy continues to shape the Auburn family.
Will Romanowski was known for being easy-going, quick to laugh, and the kind of person who made others feel welcome the moment they met him. A standout student with a 4.05 GPA and a scholarship recipient at Auburn, Will was dedicated to both his academic success and his fraternity brotherhood. He loved baseball from every angle—playing in youth leagues and high school, cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies, and supporting Auburn Baseball with unwavering pride. His dream was to one day work in a Major League Baseball front office.
After the accident that took his life, a note written by Will was found—a message that now defines his legacy and inspires this tournament:
“Be better than yesterday.”
Those four words have become the guiding principle of the ROMO Cup and the scholarship it will help establish.
The ROMO Cup will raise funds to support the Will Romanowski Memorial Scholarship, benefiting Auburn students who embody Will’s warmth, curiosity, and commitment to lifting others up.
Event co-organizer Judson Lindsey shared why the tournament means so much to the students who knew Will best:
“Romo had this incredible gift—he made every person feel like they belonged. He lived with joy, he worked hard, and he always pushed himself and the people around him to grow. The ROMO Cup is our way of keeping that spirit alive and honoring the message he left us: ‘Be better than yesterday.’”
Co-organizer Will Hamilton added:
“This tournament brings together the community Will loved so much. Every team that steps on the field is playing for something bigger than a trophy—they’re playing to honor a friend who inspired us all to be better people.”
The tournament will take place on April 25, 2026, at the Sigma Nu and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity houses, featuring teams from across the Interfraternity Council (IFC). Students, alumni, parents, and community members are invited to attend and celebrate Will’s enduring impact.
